2022-2023 RCMMS Hours: 8:15 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Building opens to students at 7:45 a.m.
Students arriving to class after 8:15 will be marked tardy.
Parents/Guardians must check in students who are tardy at the front desk.
According to WCPSS Policy: An absence is excused if the following conditions exist:
A. Illness or injury which makes the student physically unable to attend school.
B. Isolation ordered by the State Board of Health or the Wake County Health Department.
C. Death in family.
D. Medical, dental, or other appointment with a health care provider for the student or for a child for whom the student is a custodial parent.
E. Court when a student is under subpoena.
F. Religious observance, as suggested by the religion of the student or the student's parents.
G. Participation in a valid educational opportunity, with prior Principal approval, as documented on the "Request for Excused Absence for Educational Reasons."
H. A catastrophic event or natural disaster.
Documentation Is Required. Absent forms or notes are to be turned into the office:
Per Board policy: You'll need to provide a signed detailed (see below) note within two (2) days of your child's return to school or the absences will be recorded as unexcused. Absences not classified as excused per Board Policy (listed above and in the Policy) are entered as unexcused.
Use may use the EASY ABSENCE NOTE FORM provided in the main office.
Handwritten notes that are illegible or do not include the required information required may not be processed.
Each note should be clearly printed and contain:
In Middle School, cumulative absences above twenty (20) yearly are excessive. After five (5) days or ten (10) absences, letters are sent home from the school social worker, and expectations-based intervention to help the student improve his or her attendance may be put in place. The intervention will involve parents. After twenty (20) and failure to meet previously-determined expectations, the student will be subject to failure/retention.
PLEASE NOTE: During the day many students need to call home and do not know their home phone number or their parents’ cell/work numbers.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD HAS THESE NUMBERS MEMORIZED OR WRITTEN DOWN WHERE THEY CAN ACCESS THEM, Please Call The School To Update Your Contact Information When Things Change!

- grade
- homeroom teacher’s name
- date(s) of absence
- reason for absence
- parent/guardian signature
